Would love to see our fans buy into this kind of initiative at St Mary’s and at away games. The club won’t do it but we can self regulate.
German fans are fighting back on social media posting, filming the action, reels and vlogs whilst the team are playing, all of which is diluting fans focus away from our core job, supporting the team.
Caveats. Yes you need your phone for your kids or elderly parents to call in an emergency, yes the odd photo is fine, yes you have a right to do what you like and we don’t not have to do everything the Germans do.. etc. that isn’t the point.
The point Dortmund fans are raising, and I’d love us to improve on, is keep your phone in your pocket. Football supporting should not be instagramable or performative. Spend 90+ minutes roaring on the boys (and women at women’s games) and then do your phone admin another time.
If everyone ends up filming, there will be no atmosphere left to film.
Been very encouraged by the atmosphere of late, the lads are doing their best on the pitch. What can we improve on? get louder, for longer, when winning and especially when losing. They need us this season, making it intimidating for opposition teams and singing the boys incessantly til the 97th minute.
I’d love to see the TV pick up no phones being waved when we get a corner or when we score. Be where your feet are. Sing loud and proud, don’t let phone addiction, quick dopamine hits or a few likes stop you in that aim. Not a criticism, a friendly encouragement that you have over ten thousand minutes each week to use your phone so keep it in your pocket for just 90 of those when saints are playing!
Final point in this sermon (!) Shout stuff, anything, (don’t break the law!) don’t be scared of being judged, have a laugh, try and get a song going. Write a new song that isn’t the same as every other club’s. It all adds up to a healthy, loud and raucous atmosphere that Tonda and the boys will be proud of!

Tbh, most of those filming etc are tourists and we don't exactly get 100's/1000's of Japanese coachloads coming to SMS unlike Manure, Lpool, Emirates etc. And how do they get the front row seats so that they can drool over the poor ba5tards
What does annoy me though is when we get a corner or free kick with potential you do get a few who like to film to say they "got it" without the joy of actually celebrating the moment! |  |

I would imagine so, but as I say why do i need a phone its just a distraction, if im watching a game i don't want goal alerts from other games, I want to concentrate on the game i'm watching.
